Beautiful moment, do not pass away!
浮士德的嘆息,verweile doch! du bist so schön! 英文翻譯成 beautiful moment, do not pass away!
此刻,我腦海中亦只有 beautiful moment, do not pass away!

Have you seen Thomas Mann's Dr. Faustus about a composer who sold his soul to Mephistopheles for 24 years artistic brilliance and creativity, something in the end marred by his desire for a kind of beauty dissociated from his humanity. He had to forsake love.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't. From your description of the story I think it's really worth reading it. I had only read his Death in Venice and I found Thomas Mann a very professional writer. His Death in Venice is beautifully written.
DeleteDeath in Venice is very well written indeed. He also wrote The Magic Mountain, another masterpiece! Rather long though, but it's very well structured.
DeleteSome don't even have a soul to sell!
ReplyDeleteThat's why sometimes I am worried about the future of humankind.
